The fruits of the creative process…
Voila! Lots of stinky pens later and we have little fantasy Valentine’s notes. Unfortunately the photo isn’t that clear, but they’re for my closest friends sign from one of our sexy lecturers, the ghost of our house and Thor, Prince of Asgard. They all got a Lindt chocolate ball too.
I’m currently curled up on the sofa with the remainder of the Lindt chocolate and a cup of tea with my favourite bands on shuffle. So very, very chilled out right now.
Fun fact, did you know that valens is Latin for healthy, potent, powerful, effective and worth-while? For some reason, which I’m struggling to put my finger on, it made me feel a bit better about Valentine’s Day; it’s about celebrating the kind of love that everyone is desperate to find, the kind that makes you feel like you’d walk the earth for someone, that wild horses couldn’t drag you away from, a partner in crime (or more likely non-crime). It’s not about the one-day affection stint that people seem to take it for. Maybe it just gave extra ammunition to the desire in me to find a healthy, potent, powerful and worth-while love.
Anyway, I’m not making much sense; I’ve got that funny swirly feeling in my chest that I get when my emotions are figuring themselves out and my head isn’t allowed much of a say. Like the House of Commons debating a point; my heart debates between its four atriums, then sends the finished result to the head and the head can deny it what they heart decided so the heart has to start again, or it lets it through.
Oh, it’s Gratituesday! Time to be grateful for things!
What I’m grateful for today:
- The space to be myself, being single is still a little scary but the metaphorical breathing space is amazing on many levels.
- Lindt for being master chocolatiers!
- All my lovely friends and all the love and cuddles they’ve given me recently in person and from afar.
Have a good day everyone!
:)
Si vales, valeo! Happy Valentine’s Day from a Latin buff. :) Love the picture!
Valentine’s Day is Roman in origin…the Festival of Lupercalia is where it comes from….
I’d love to learn some Latin, I might try to find an online course at some point :) And I will have to look into this Festival of Lupercalia!
I know Latin, if you ever have questions. :) And the Cambridge Latin series (print-based) is the best by far of all the Latin courses I’ve sampled.
Excellent :) thanks for the advice! I’ll have to go have a sneaky peek in the bookshop this weekend…
